Claire Messud is the author of four novels and a book of novellas, including The Emperor’s Children (2006), an international bestseller which was translated into over 20 languages. Her most recent novel, The Woman Upstairs, was published in 2013. She writes regularly for the New York Review of Books, the New York Times and the Financial Times (London). She teaches at Harvard University and lives in Cambridge, MA. She visited Palestine as part of PalFest 2009 and wrote a short story, The Scattering, as her contribution to our ten-year anthology, This is Not a Border.
