Hala Shroof was born in Libya in 1978 and lived in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan before returning to Palestine in 1995. She studied English and translation at Birzeit University and won the Qattan Foundation Young Writer Award in 2004 when her first collection, I’ll Follow the Mist was published by Dar al-Adab in Beirut. I Did not Cross the River (2014) was published by al-Dar al-Ahliyya in Jordan and her poems have appeared in English, French, Spanish and Swedish. She is the Literature Co-ordinator at Tamer Institute and the mother of Khaled, Ammar and Dalia.
