first novel, The Road from Damascus, was published by Hamish Hamilton (Penguin) in 2008. He has worked as a journalist and an English teacher in Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Oman. He is currently living in Scotland and working on his second novel.
