Ashish George was born in the South Indian state of Kerala. He developed a neuroblastoma in infancy that left him paralyzed. His family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina when he was three years old in order to better accommodate his disability. He has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Davidson College and a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. His academic work focused on ethics and political philosophy. Drawing on a combination of personal experience, research, and reflection, he scrutinizes diasporas, disability, and resistance in his writing. He is currently working on a novel about a diverse group of young people dealing with injustice and suicide in the Chapel Hill area.
