Jamal Mahjoub was born in London and brought up in Khartoum, Sudan. His literary novels include Travelling with Djinns and Nubian Indigo. His fiction and non-fiction have appeared in numerous publications. He also writes crime fiction as Parker Bilal: The Makana series takes place in Egypt in the decade prior to the Arab Revolutions. The fifth novel is City of Jackals (2016) His work is widely translated and has been awarded several prizes, including the French Prix de l’Astrolabe, and the Spanish Mario Vargas Llosa Premio NH de Relatos. He has lived in Denmark, Spain and currently Amsterdam.
