Madiha Tahir

Madiha Tahir is a writer, scholar, and the director of Wounds of Waziristan, a short documentary film on Pakistani survivors of drone attacks. She is a doctoral candidate at Columbia University focusing on autonomous warfare and has worked as a freelance journalist. Her reported work has appeared in several media outlets including Al- Jazeera, Vice, Foreign Affairs, Caravan, Democracy Now!, Costs of War, Guernica, PRI and BBC’s

“The World”, and elsewhere. She is the co-founder of the e-zine Tanqeed, with Mahvish Ahmad, and the co-editor of Dispatches from Pakistan, a volume of essays in a series on timely issues spearheaded by Vijay Prashad. Tahir holds a masters degree in Near Eastern Studies from NYU and an M.S. from Columbia Journalism School. But mostly, her claim to fame is arguing with Pakistani elites and when possible, the NSA.
