Teju Cole is a writer, art historian, and photographer. He is the photography critic of the New York Times Magazine. He was born in the US in 1975 to Nigerian parents, and raised in Nigeria. He currently lives in Brooklyn. He is the author of four books, including the renowned Open City, the collection of essays Strange and Known Things and, most recently, Blind Spot.
He attended the 2014 Palestine Festival of Literature and, on returning home, wrote a searingly incisive piece for the Guardian on the Cold Violence of Jerusalem, which has been re-printed in This is Not a Border.
