Join us for our first ever event in Minneapolis, presented in partnership with Mizna.
We’re thrilled to present a stellar line-up of talent, including two of the most exciting Palestinian poets working in English today: Lena Khalaf Tuffaha, fresh from winning the National Book Award for her collecting, SOMETHING ABOUT LIVING, and Mosab Abu Toha, whose FOREST OF NOISE has been a major publishing event.
They are joined by previous PalFest guest in Palestine, Nick Estes, whose OUR HISTORY IS THE FUTURE has become one of the most important books of history written this millenium so far; Danez Smith, a poet, writer and performer who has published three poetry collections, including DON’T CALL US DEAD, a finalist for the National Book Award in 2017; Sarah Aziza, a Palestinian-American writer with roots in Gaza, who will soon release her first book, an experimental memoir entitled THE HOLLOW HALF; Dina Omar, a Palestinian poet and academic at UC Berkeley and a founding member of the National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP), with a brilliant piece in our latest anthology, Their Borders Our World; and Sagirah Shahid, a Pushcart Prize nominated Black Muslim poet from Minneapolis.
This all-star event will also feature the oud-playing of local musician, Tim O’Keefe. Birchbark Books will be on-site with books for sale.
A livestream will be available for those not in Minneapolis - please subscribe to our YouTube channel HERE.
