Ghada Karmi

الدكتورة غادة الكرمي هي أكاديمية وناشطة وكاتبة فلسطينية رائدة. ولدت في القدس و لكنها نشأت وتعلمت في إنجلترا ، حيث تدربت أولاً لتصبح طبيبة ولكنها واصلت أن تصبح أكاديمية وهي حاليًا زميلة أبحاث شرفية في معهد الدراسات العربية والإسلامية بجامعة إكستر. تركزت أبحاثها الرئيسية حول الصراع الفلسطيني الإسرائيلي وقامت بالتدريس في هذا المجال حتى عام ٢٠١٢. كما عملت على قضايا الهجرة وتكييف الأقليات مع الثقافة الغربية، وقامت بثلاث دراسات رئيسية عن المجتمعات البنجابية والمغربية والمصرية. في لندن.

تشمل كتبها المنشورة Jerusalem today: what future for the peace process? (Ithaca Press, 1996) و The Palestinian Exodus 1948-1998 (with Eugene Cotran, Ithaca Press, 1999). كما نالت مذكراتها In search of Fatima: a Palestinian story التي نشرت في عام ٢٠٠٢ على إشادة نقدية واسعة. تقوم في كتابها Married to another man: Israel’s dilemma in Palestine بعمل تحليل مفصل لعملية السلام ويدافع عن حل الدولة الواحدة للنزاع. نشرت فيرسو أحدث مؤلفاتها بعنوان Return: a Palestinain memoir في عام 2015. كما نشرت العديد من المقالات في الصحافة البريطانية وكثيراً ما ظهرت في الإذاعة والتلفزيون البريطانية والعربية.

Dr Ghada Karmi is a leading Palestinian academic, activist and writer. She was born in Jerusalem, but grew up and was educated in England, where she first trained as a doctor of medicine. She went on to become an academic and is currently an honorary  Research Fellow at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter. Her major area of research has centred on the Palestine/Israel conflict, which she taught until 2012. She has also worked on issues of migration and adjustment of minorities to Western culture, and carried out three major studies of the Punjabi, Moroccan and Egyptian communities in London.

Her published books include Jerusalem today: what future for the peace process? (Ithaca Press, 1996), The Palestinian Exodus 1948-1998 (with Eugene Cotran, Ithaca Press, 1999). Her memoir, In search of Fatima: a Palestinian story, published in 2002, won wide critical acclaim. Her book, Married to another man: Israel’s dilemma in Palestine, is a detailed analysis of the peace process and argues for a unitary-state solution to the conflict. Her  most recent book, Return: a Palestinain memoir, was published by Verso in 2015. She has also published many articles in the British press and frequently appeared on British and Arab radio and TV.
